Edit or Add Inspection Category

  1. Enter/edit the Category Code and Category Name.  Common categories are BIO –Biosafety Inspection CHEM – Chemical Inspection, and RAM – Ram Inspection.  More specific inspection types may be entered such as BSL1 for Biosafety Level 1, or BSL2 for Biosafety Level 2.

  1. The “Correspond To” selections are available from the dropdown list:

  1. The Corresponds To option refers to the individual (PI), Department, or Manager that will be responsible for correcting the violation or discrepancy found during this type of inspection.

  1. The program will set “Default Answers to No Violation” as checked, and the Default Answer selection to “No”.   These defaults are set so that during the actual inspection, only the Violation/Question items that need to be addressed are selected by the inspector.  The inspector searches for the issue (violation), and makes applicable recommendations, etc.

  1. The user enters the Days to Correct (number).  Most inspections are set at 30 days to correct. Some inspection may require more immediate attention.  The number of days to correct may also be set on an individual violation/question.

  1. The Permit Type selected will show the labs attached to that permit type when an inspection is created for a P.I.   For example, if BIO permit is selected, the labs attached to the P.I’s BIO permits will be shown first when creating the inspection.
